Breaking Down Barriers

Indigenous Rehabilitation is constantly searching for ways to set standards, create different pathways, find better ways of being and doing. We are proud of our ability to be flexible and adapt quickly and without compromising our service delivery. We are adept at finding solutions and problem solving quickly and collaboratively. Our Optimism and Leadership also lends itself to forming partnerships and relationships that have the ability to lead change. Projects include:

iAWHI

Our research tells us this is the only App of its kind globally. The App was developed with the intent purpose of supporting and encouraging Whānau to interact. We created the App with Whānau at the centre and then added layers – Whānau, Community, Kaiawhina, Organisation.

Isolation, disconnection and silence is not new for Whānau Hāua living in the community.

In an attempt to address these challenges and offer a solution to vulnerable whānau wanting to live a meaningful life, What Ever it Takes (WEITs) developed the iAwhi app. The goal is to connect Kaiāwhina, whānau, clinicians, community/Manaaki, and funders.  Within a Covid environment, iAwhi provides the ideal opportunity to keep vulnerable communities connected to key hauora, whānau and community groups within their own bubble.

The app aligned with the WEITs Group – What Ever it Takes Homebased Care, Indigenous Rehabilitation and The What Ever it Takes Trust, who offer a unique umbrella of Whānau Ora care and rehabilitation, through WEITs Māori Model of Clinical Practise, Ngākau Purotu.  It is the only one of its kind in Aotearoa.

As a reflection of the importance we place on iAwhi and the potential impact it will have on connecting whānau, we have established our own inhouse tech team whose goal is to ensure the App is performing at optimal levels.

iAwhi has four platforms

Whānau/Client Platform

Whānau/Client Platform represents engagement, communication, customer satisfaction feedback, planning/appointments, goal implementation, live updates.

Kaiāwhina Platform

Kaiāwhina Platform represents data input, communication, engagement, planning/appointments, goal referencing, risk reporting/adverse events

External/Clinical Platform

External / Clinical Platform represents clinical notes and referencing, communication, planning/appointments, goal referencing

Administration Platform

Administration Platform represents data analysis, access authority, full oversight, quality assurance, communication, goal setting, reviewing, reporting, risk management (mitigation and reporting)

The key points of difference of iAwhi are:

  • The incorporation of our practise model Ngākau Purotu.

  • The ability to analyse data. Includes analysis of goal progress and achievement.

  • The ability to internationalise the App

  • A unique ability to be able to capture live data in the homes from Clients, Whānau, Kaiāwhina, Clinicians that can be accessed and analysed immediately by Admin Management in real time.

  • The interaction between Client, Whānau and Workforce is the apps true value

  • Live updates of client activity through the newsfeed provides real time information

  • All activity is recorded against Tūmanako – short, medium, long term goals.

  • Our Partner ‘What Ever it Takes Home-Based Rehabilitation’ is actively trialling iAwhi across its organisation and service delivery
